Solutions we tried for E-mail
Replacing everything with X.400
Did not work. The products did not solve the problem.
Introducing MIME
Design of MIME:
- NO change to ASCII
- NO single character set
- NO blessing of old sins
The results were:
- Infrastructure in place
- No central control
- No gateways
- Lots of frustrated users
But it works!
