HP X.400 is based on the CCITT X.400 1988 standards. HP X.400 runs on HP_UX 9.0 and 10.0 on the HP9000 series 700/600/800. It provides a sendmail gateway to mailx and a programmatic interface for HP OpenMail to bind into.
HP X.400 runs over OTS (OSI Transport Services), X.25, FDDI, and 802.3 LAN. OTS provides the OSI Session and Transport layers.
HP X.400 includes two programmatic interfaces to X.400. The High Level application programmatic interface (API) provides a simple way of constructing applications eg prototypes. The X/Open Gateway API library provides a fully functional object orientated interface to X.400.
