The Messenger Infrastructure Products are already used by over 300
corporations, government agencies, OEMs and systems integrators worldwide.
Built around the Messenger Infrastructure technology, Infonet Software
Solutions provide a serie of products called Messenger Workplace, a unique
Intranet productivity server ideal for conducting both intracompany and
intercompany business.
The Messenger WorkPlace Series runs on Solaris and Windows NT, and will be
available in three versions to meet the needs of a variety of organizations:
the Enterprise Edition, for mid to large-sized corporations that want to
communicate effectively within their organization as well as externally, to
business partners, customers, suppliers and the Internet; the Service
Providers' Edition, designed to meet the specific requirements of ADMDs,
ISPs (Internet Service Providers) and carriers who want to differentiate
their offerings and add value for their customers by integrating Messenger
WorkPlace products with their services; and the Developers' Edition, for
third party developers who want to target specific markets by integrating
Messenger WorkPlace products with their own.
The Messenger WorkPlace Series is comprised of 7 components that can be
mixed to give customers an individual productivity solution:
- Messenger Server
High-end backbone message server, offering a choice of store-and-forward
transports: X.400 technology for those organizations that require very high
reliability for mission-critical applications, and a MIME/SMTP backbone
supporting POP3 and IMAP4 for those companies that want to exploit the
benefits of Intranet/Internet technology.
Messenger Server includes directory services and a graphical network manager
for configuration and management (subsets of Messenger Directory and
Messenger NetMan Plus, detailed later in this document). Messenger Server
incorporates a number of robust, value-added features including a
virus-checking capability that scans any message (and its attachments) for
viruses. This includes messages received from the Internet, as well as
proprietary systems such as cc:Mail, Microsoft Mail, Lotus Notes and Novell
GroupWise. Virus-checking for the first 100 users is included with Messenger
Server and additional users can be supported for a nominal fee.
- Messenger Interconnect
Full suite of gateways to link disparate, proprietary E-mail and Workgroup
systems within a corporation or to allow communication with business
partners and external organizations. Messenger Interconnect supports
virtually all of the popular LAN-based systems such as cc:Mail, Microsoft
Mail, NetWare Global MHS, Lotus Notes and Novell's GroupWise, client/server
based systems like Microsoft Exchange, and SMTP/MIME. Furthermore, all
Messenger Interconnect gateways include support for P7 Message Store, so
that customers can easily link all of their remote and mobile users into
their messaging network.
- Messenger Directory
Advanced directory services system based on 1992 and 1993 X.500 technology
that not only allows customers to securely store and retrieve E-mail
addresses for address resolution, but serves as a secure repository of many
types of information including configuration and management information that
can be, in turn, utilized by Messenger NetMan, ISS's graphical network
manager.
- Messenger NetMan Plus
Graphical network manager that provides centralized management of
distributed messaging systems. Messenger NetMan Plus can fully administer
and monitor up to 10,000 Messenger Servers and Messenger Interconnects,
as well as interact with other Messenger WorkPlace products to store
configuration information.
- Messenger Multimedia
Range of products that allow companies to benefit from multimedia
applications including graphical fax, voice messaging and video. The
initial offering is a full-featured Graphical Fax System that lets companies
integrate fax users into their electronic communications environment.
- Messenger Commerce
Variety of electronic commerce options including EDI services for
traditional business to business correspondence and electronic publishing,
which allows a user to browse, select and purchase products via the
Internet.
- Messenger Forum
Information-sharing resource that enables an organization's employees to
exchange many types of information with each other, as well as with business
partners and customers. Messenger Forum provides access to Internet
newsgroups, forums and to popular third-party systems such as Lotus Notes
and Netscape SuiteSpot.
