For PC-LANs, Route400 MTAs and Message Stores for MS-DOS run in dedicated PCs with UAs, RUAs (P7) for MS-DOS, MS-Windows and MACs running in non-dedicated PCs.
For UNIX, either stand alone systems or LAN Servers, Route400 MTAs, MS, UNIX UAs (for dumb terminal access) and APIs run in the same system. Additonal file locking is provided to enable LAN connected MS-DOS and Windows UAs to use the same filing system in a secure manner. An SMTP gateway is available and advanced security access controls supporting Closed User Groups and real time Security violation logging. Comprehensive event and audit/billing logs are configurable to allow "ADMD" style commercial operations. A billing program is supplied when these options are required.
The UNIX flavours currently supported are: SCO, Sunsoft Interactive SV.3 & 4, SunOS, Sun Solaris 2, IBM RS6000/AIX, ICL DRS NX, HP UX, Digital Ultrix, MIPS Risc/os and Sequent UNIX. Others are in the pipeline.
The Route400 MTAs are designed for both X.400 Backbone and LAN MTA operation and support the following communications options: X.25, TS4/CLNS, TCP/IP-RFC1006, Asynchronous dial-up and PAD call and ISDN (currently MS-DOS only). Support for the APS standard will be available in Q3 94.
NET-TEL is the original developer of the Route400 range of products, which have been successfully conformance tested by the UK National Computing Centre for the following profiles (to both 1984 and 1988 standards): UK GOSIP, US GOSIP & OSTC.
